OPS sees importance in early childhood education

Experts say children who are engaged in learning before kindergarten will excel in the classroom later on in their education.

Omaha Public Schools leaders said by engaging minds at a young age, you can raise graduation rates and cut special education rates.

“Early childhood education doesn't just close the academic achievement gap, it prevents the academic achievement gap,” said Dr. ReNae Kehrberg, assistant superintendent.
