Sarah Ann Kotchian, our Vice President of Education and Early Childhood Policy, spoke about paid family leave at "Parenting Matters: A National Symposium". Hundreds attended the event hosted by Buffett Early Childhood Institute in collaboration with the American Educational Research Association and the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
The discussion focused around the report Parenting Matters:Supporting Parents of Children Ages 0-8 and related research and issues.
During the section on paid family leave, Sarah Ann gave a breakdown of why paid leave is important, how it relates to closing the achievement gap, and an update on the status of legislative work around the issue here in Nebraska.
