Early childhood education is good investment in Nebraska's future, lawmakers are told

Teaching preschoolers which way is up on a printed page and other basic skills is the best investment Nebraska can make in its future.

That was the message that speaker after speaker delivered Tuesday at a public hearing before the Education Committee.

The hearing concerned a proposal to put $4.6 million next year into state grants for starting early childhood education programs.
